We are pleased to announce our latest Kenya offering! This lot was produced by the Othaya Farmers’ Cooperative Society, one of the country’s outstanding smallholder grower groups. Processed at the Ichamama wet mill, which is one of eighteen washing stations operated by the co-op. Earlier this season we offered a popular lot from the Karuthi mill, a neighboring washing station also operated by Othaya. The Ichamama mill is located on the southeastern slopes of the Aberdares mountain ranges in Nyeri County, one of the best coffee producing regions in Kenya. An estimated 1,100 farmers deliver coffee to the Ichamama mill; each farmer grows about 250 coffee trees on half-acre plots of land. In addition to coffee, members also grow macadamia nuts, bananas and grevillea.
